Milestones students get pamper session pleasure

Bridge Training Ltd Hair and Beauty Department Hosts Pamper Sessions for School Students

Bridge Training Ltd.’s Hair and Beauty Department was delighted to announce a special initiative that offered pamper sessions for young people attending Milestones School. This heartwarming event aimed to provide an enjoyable and relaxing experience, fostering confidence and well-being for the students who participated.

The sessions were held on Wednesday, 11th December, in the training provider’s hair and beauty salon facilities. Students provided an array of services, including hairstyling, manicures, and gentle skincare treatments, all under the supervision of experienced tutors.

“We were thrilled to welcome these young people to our department,” said Michelle Overthrow, Head of Curriculum for Bridge Training. “This was a wonderful opportunity for our students to highlight their skills while making a positive impact on the community. It was about more than beauty treatments – it was about creating an inclusive and uplifting experience for everyone involved.”

The collaboration cemented Bridge Training’s commitment to community engagement and inclusion, offering its students the chance to develop practical skills while connecting with diverse groups in meaningful ways.

A few years ago, Jude Wilcox the Milestone School Careers Adviser reached out to Bridge training with the idea to see if students would like some models to support their learning.

This joint working experience has become a regular event in our diaries as both education providers really value the incredible impact it has on all our young people.

The Milestone pupils benefit from going out in the community, learning about hair, beauty, photography, art and health and social care job sectors and industries as a hands-on Employer Encounter visit.

The pupils are pampered, treated with excellent customer service and get 1:1 time and attention. They use communication and social skills. They are encouraged to be independent and make choices for themselves key outcomes for preparation to adulthood.

Many have never been to a professional hair/beauty salon before and lots of new sensory experiences are delivered.

Some of the pupils may have low self-esteem or feel vulnerable, but as the day progresses working relationships are built through the delivery of hair, beauty and art and you can see the transformation in independence, confidence, and a glowing sense of positive wellbeing.

The opportunity for all learners to work together who are the same age and support each other is powerful and very emotive for staff involved.
