Qualifications in Level 1 Skills for Professions in Health & Social Care aim to provide learners with the skills and knowledge required to progress to further study related to health and social care and ultimately to work in this or related sectors.
Level 1 Certificate in Introduction to Health, Social Care and Children’s and Young People’s Settings (CACHE)
The Level 1 certificate in Introduction to Health, Social Care and Children’s and Young People’s Settings aims to develop learners’ knowledge and awareness of health, social care and children’s and young people’s settings. It is aimed at learners in school or college who wish to develop an understanding of the similarities and differences between these settings.
Level 2 Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care (Cache)
The aim of this qualification is to provide learners with knowledge and understanding of core subject areas in health and social care to support progression to further learning or the workplace.

All students who may have not achieved a minimum grade 4 in GCSE English or Maths will continue to work towards either a GCSE or Functional Skills qualification as part of their timetable. |

Each candidate must create a portfolio of evidence which demonstrates achievement of all the learning outcomes and assessment criteria associated with each unit. On completion of each unit candidates must declare that the work produced is their own. The Assessor must countersign this. The main pieces of evidence for the portfolio could include (in no particular order):
- Assessor observation – completed observational checklists and related action plans
• witness testimony
• candidate’s proof of work
• worksheets
• assignments/projects/reports
• record of professional discussion
• record of oral and written questioning
• candidate and peer reports
• Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).

Level 1 Award in Skills for Professions in Health and Social Care
- On completion of the OCNLR Level 1 Qualifications in Skills for Professions in Health and Social Care learners will have the required skills and knowledge to successfully study the OCNLR Level 2 Qualifications in Skills for Professions in Health and Social Care and other qualifications in health and social care at Level 2.
Level 1 Certificate in Introduction to Health, Social Care and Children’s and Young People’s Settings (CACHE)
- This qualification provides a straight forward progression to the Level 1 Certificate and Diploma in Caring for Children giving the opportunity to carry forward shared units. Learners are also able to progress to the Level 1 Award and Certificate in Personal and Social Development qualifications. Although the qualification does not qualify learners to work with children it does support them in preparing for the “next steps” either in training or moving towards the world of work.
Level 2 Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care (Cache)
- Upon achievement of this qualification, learners will be able to progress onto further learning or to employment within the health and social care sector. The Extended Diploma supports direct progression to our Level 3 Award, Certificate and Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care.
