Pre-16 OCNLR Entry Level 3 / Post-16 Level 1 Qualification in Creative and Digital Media (Games Design Pathway)

These qualifications have been developed to provide learners with a flexible and engaging introduction to the exciting world of Creative and Digital Media, with a particular focus on games design and interactive digital content.

The games industry is one of the fastest-growing sectors within the UK’s creative economy, offering a wide range of career opportunities in areas such as game design, digital art, animation, storytelling, programming, audio production, and user experience design. Through these qualifications, learners can explore the creative and technical processes involved in developing games and interactive media while building practical skills and confidence.

By encouraging creativity, problem-solving, digital literacy, and innovation, the OCNLR Entry Level and Level 1 qualifications help learners discover and develop their talents within the creative industries. They provide an accessible foundation for progression to further study, training, and future employment in a sector that continues to shape entertainment, education, and digital experiences worldwide.

Is this course right for me?

NCFE Level 1 Certificate in Creative and Digital Media

  • There are no specific recommended prior learning requirements for this qualification. However, learners may find it helpful if they’ve already achieved an Entry Level 3 qualification.

NCFE Level 1 Certificate in Creative and Digital Media

  • There are no specific recommended prior learning requirements for this qualification. However, learners may find it helpful if they’ve already achieved an Entry Level 3 qualification.
These qualifications are designed for learners aged pre-16 and above who wish to develop skills and knowledge in Digital Media.
All students who may have not achieved a minimum grade 4 in GCSE English or Maths will continue to work towards either a GCSE or Functional Skills qualification as part of their timetable.

Each candidate must create a portfolio of evidence which demonstrates achievement of all the learning outcomes and assessment criteria associated with each unit. On completion of each unit candidates must declare that the work produced is their own.  The main pieces of evidence for the portfolio could include (in no particular order):

• Assessor observation – completed observational checklists and related action plans
• Witness testimony
• Candidate’s proof of work
• Worksheets
• Assignments/projects/reports
• Record of professional discussion
• Record of oral and written questioning
• candidate and peer reports
• Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).
• Exam

  • Level 2 courses in:
    • Media production
    • Games design
    • Animation
    • Film & TV

As a Bridge Training student, you may incur additional costs to attend our course, for example it is likely you may need to pay for travel and stationery. Many courses offer learning opportunities that you may need to pay for, this may include things like study visits, trips and external activities.

On this one year course you will learn by completing projects and assignments based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands. You will sample a range of vocational areas such as portrait, landscape, macro photography and videography. You will develop your understanding of materials and techniques and explore new ideas through creative use of varied photographic and video equipment and the use of visual language to communicate these ideas effectively.
