Entry Level / Level 1 Art & Design
The aim of this qualification is to provide you with underpinning knowledge and develop your skills in art and design techniques. You’ll explore ideas, techniques and use of visual language in a chosen art and design medium. You’ll develop your knowledge and understanding of the design process and apply this to an art project.
Level 2 Certificate in Art & Design
The Level 2 Certificate in Art and Design (500/8988/2) is designed to develop the learner’s understanding of art and design concepts and materials. The learner will extend their knowledge and understanding of the design process and the health and safety issues within art and design.
Is this course right for me?
On this one year course you will learn by completing projects and assignments based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands. You will sample a range of vocational areas such as Art Practice, 2D and 3D Design. You will develop your understanding of materials and techniques and explore new ideas by creative use of drawing, painting and sculpture, and the use of visual language to communicate these ideas effectively.

NCFE Level 2 Award/Certificate in Creative Craft

NCFE Level 2 Certificate/Extended Certificate in Art and Design
- There are no specific recommended prior learning requirements for this qualification. However, learners may find it helpful if they’ve already achieved a Level 1 qualification.
NCFE Level 1 Award/Certificate in Creative Craft
- There are no specific recommended prior learning requirements for this qualification. However, learners may find it helpful if they’ve already achieved an Entry Level 3 qualification.
NCFE Level 2 Award/Certificate in Creative Craft
- There are no specific recommended prior learning requirements for this qualification. However, learners may find it helpful if they’ve already achieved a Level 1 qualification.
NCFE Level 2 Certificate/Extended Certificate in Art and Design
- There are no specific recommended prior learning requirements for this qualification. However, learners may find it helpful if they’ve already achieved a Level 1 qualification.
| These qualifications are designed for learners aged pre-16 and above who wish to develop skills and knowledge in craft. |
| All students who may have not achieved a minimum grade 4 in GCSE English or Maths will continue to work towards either a GCSE or Functional Skills qualification as part of their timetable. |
Each candidate must create a portfolio of evidence which demonstrates achievement of all the learning outcomes and assessment criteria associated with each unit. On completion of each unit candidates must declare that the work produced is their own. The main pieces of evidence for the portfolio could include (in no particular order):
• Assessor observation – completed observational checklists and related action plans
• Witness testimony
• Candidate’s proof of work
• Worksheets
• Assignments/projects/reports
• Record of professional discussion
• Record of oral and written questioning • candidate and peer reports
• Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).
NCFE Level 1 Award/Certificate in Creative Craft
- Learners who achieve this qualification could progress to: • NCFE Level 1 Award in Creative Craft • NCFE Level 1 Award in Personal and Social Development • NCFE Level 1 Award in Exploring Occupational Studies for the Workplace • NCFE Level 1 Award in Employability Skills
NCFE Level 2 Award/Certificate in Creative Craft
- Learners who achieve this qualification could progress to: • NCFE Level 2 Award in Creative Craft • NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Creative Craft • NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Art and Design • NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Photography • NCFE Level 2 Award in Graphic Design • NCFE Level 2 Award or Certificate in Developing Enterprise Skills • NCFE Level 2 Award or Certificate in Employability Skills It may also be useful to learners studying qualifications in the following sectors: • craft, creative art and design • media and communication.
NCFE Level 2 Certificate/Extended Certificate in Art and Design
